Overview
Translating Advances in the Identification and Treatment of Recurrent C. difficile Infection into Clinical Practice and Improved Outcomes
Complimentary Dinner Symposium
Registration is closed for this activity.
This 90-minute dinner symposium will feature three faculty in an interactive discussion on the importance of appropriately identifying and treating CDI and recurrent CDI. This event is neither sponsored by nor endorsed by ACG or WGO.
This activity is intended for gastroenterologists, infectious disease specialists, and other healthcare professionals that treat C. difficile infections.
Clostridium difficile infection (CDI) is associated with significant morbidity and mortality. Further, recurrence of CDI is common after an initial episode. Although a number of therapies with varying mechanisms of action are available to treat CDI and prevent recurrence, the management of recurrent CDI is complex and challenging. Clinicians require up-to-date knowledge of evidence-based treatment of recurrent CDI to reduce its burden and improve clinical outcomes.
Upon completion of this activity, participants will be able to:
• Implement tools to identify patients who may be at increased risk for recurrent C. difficile infection
• Outline evidence-based approaches for the management of first, second, and third recurrences of C. difficile infection in diverse patient populations
• Describe the role of available antimicrobial agents and biologics for treatment and prevention of recurrent C. difficile infection
