Left Atrial Access – A Hands-on Preceptorship
This course has been filled. Contact Michelle Forcier mforcier@achlcme.org for any questions.
This CME activity series is designed to provide physicians with hands-on training in all aspects of managing left atrial access including both diagnosis and treatment. Approved attendees will be trained during a two-day program under the direct supervision of the program faculty at the program site. Attendees can expect to gain exposure on patient selection, anatomy, transseptal puncture technique, and imaging.
This activity is intended for practicing interventional cardiologists who are looking to expand their hands-on experience in left atrial access.
Upon completion of this activity participants will be able to:
• Demonstrate an understanding of relational anatomy to facilitate appropriate location for transseptal puncture
• Employ a standardized, consistent methodology to maximize transseptal puncture safety
• Perform transseptal puncture techniques through an intact septum and manipulate sheaths and catheters within the left atrium
• Describe acute and chronic management techniques for complications related to transseptal puncture

This educational activity was planned and produced in accordance with the ACCME Accreditation Criteria, Policies, and Standards for Commercial Support. Recommendations involving clinical medicine in a continuing medical education (CME/CE) activity must be based on evidence that is accepted within the profession of medicine as adequate justification for their indications and contraindications in the care of patients. All scientific research referred to, reported, or used in CME/CE in support or justification of a patient care recommendation must conform to the generally accepted standards of experimental design, data collection, and analysis.
This CME/CE activity might describe the off-label, investigational, or experimental use of medications and/or devices that may exceed their FDA-approved labeling. Physicians should consult the current manufacturers’ prescribing information for these products.
To receive credit, participants are required to participate in the live training and complete the online evaluation sent via e-mail following the meeting. Once the online evaluation is completed, a certificate will be immediately available and also e-mailed. There is no fee for the generation of the certificate.
