Transgender youth see higher rates of suicide, poorer health outcomes, and an overall lack of access to quality care. In this expert interview, join pediatrician and child psychiatrist, Jason Rafferty, MD, MPH, EdM,  from the Warren Alpert Medical School of Brown University, on a path to ensuring equitable and comprehensive healthcare for transgender and gender diverse youth. Ensure your transgender and gender diverse youth patients are receiving the care they deserve.

This activity is intended for primary care physicians, pediatricians, public health professionals, physician assistants, nurse practitioners, nurses, and any other clinicians who treat or commonly encounter transgender and gender diverse youth.

The goals of this program are to increase awareness and understanding of guidelines for treating transgender and gender diverse youth. It is important that clinicians recognize disparities faced by these individuals and tailor care to support their unique needs. There is no one-size-fits-all approach for this patient population.

Upon completion of this activity, learners will be able to:
o Outline relevant terminology related to gender care
o Describe the stigma and health disparities that affect children and adolescents who are transgender or gender diverse
o Discuss strategies to ensure gender affirmative health care for transgender and gender diverse youth
